The McDonald-Baty Debate
II
Due to the heresy that
Robert Baty has been teaching on the age of the universe I challenged him to
debate me, in a four night oral debate at Ft. Collins, Colorado. Robert is
one who goes into a congregation and begins his false teaching. He has
caused problems in at least one congregation in Oklahoma and also for a
congregation in Colorado. He sides along with atheists like Todd Greene in
teaching that the universe is billions of years old. While he says that he
does not believe in evolution, he leaves out God's supernatural creative powers
in leu of natural processes.
When I sent the challenge to him, he sent me
a counter challenge to have a written debate first. As I have explained in
my first rebuttal, I first said that I wouldn't do this because he and I already
have a written debate on the subject of the age of the earth. However, I
later changed my mind and granted him his wishes to have a written debate.
I do this because I desperately want to get him in front of an audience for four
nights to show that he is a heretic and he needs to be marked and avoided (Rom.
16:17). This isn't going to happen until we start exposing him through
public debate and writing. So, if Robert will keep his end of the deal and
meet me in a four-night debate this Summer in Ft. Collins, CO, then this written
debate will be well worth it.
There will be three exchanges and each
article will have no more than 1500 words. I want everyone to look closely
at how Robert conducts himself in this debate. I believe that you will see
that he does nothing more than what he did in the last written debate. He
is going to uphold his "Goliath of GRAS." It is inconceivable to me how
anyone who calls himself a Christian could possibly name his champion argument
after an abomination to God (Goliath of Gath), and then challenge the church to
send out their "David." When Todd Greene and I were in negotiations for an
oral debate, he had agreed to moderate for Todd Greene (an atheist--a full blown
infidel). Where does that place Robert. He praises Todd highly and
allows him to teach his heresy on his (Baty's) email discussion list with no
opposition from Baty at all. John said "Whosoever transgresseth and
abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in
the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son, but he that abideth
not in the doctrine of Christ, bid him not Godspeed. For he that biddeth
him Godspeed is partaker of his evil deeds" (2 Jno. 9-11). I wonder
what that says about a man who would moderate for an atheist? Did Paul not
say: "what part hath he that believeth with an infidel" (2 Cor.
6:15)? When Robert agreed to moderate for Todd, I withdrew all fellowship
from Robert and informed him of this decision and told him that I would not
fellowship him until he brought forth fruits worthy of repentance.
